"Paths" is a typography-driven visual piece inspired by the song Paths by NIKI. This project was created for my ART 223 Typography course, where we were tasked with designing a composition based on a chosen song lyric. As a longtime admirer of NIKI’s lyricism, I selected a line that encapsulates the bittersweet nature of lost connections and the hope for reconciliation.
The design reflects themes of nostalgia, longing, and quiet acceptance. Through a blend of grain gradients, glow effects, and layered blurs, I aimed to create a dreamlike, ethereal atmosphere—mirroring the song’s emotional depth. The contrast between softness and distortion visually represents the tension of letting go, while the composition ultimately leans toward a sense of peace and renewal.
This piece is a personal reflection on change, transition, and the paths we take in life—some of which may never cross again.
